Interview - Nicole Andrews Moore - Stormy Surrender

Today I have Nicole Andrews Moore stopping in again and this time we're having a little Q&A! Sit back and enjoy getting to know Nicole a little better.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in the Adirondacks, married young, had two incredible kids who are now in their late teens, moved to Charlotte, NC on December 29, 2002, panicked at the thought of being alone with my husband after the kids grew up, divorced, dated my hawt younger neighbor, married him, and had a teeny tiny baby.  Before we married, he asked me to quit my job to help him grow his remodeling company and allow me time to pursue my dream of being a writer.  It’s worked out really well.  Our daughter will never have to go to day care.  And I get to earn money doing what I love.

2. What genre do you write?
I’m a romantic.  I write mostly contemporary and paranormal romance.  I have a new paranormal romance series I’m working on with a friend coming out in June.  It’s the Dark Redemption series and the first title is Dark Dawn.

3. Please tell us about your latest release STORMY SURRENDER and how you came up with the idea/
Stormy Surrender is a fictionalized story about our life.  There are many aspects that I kept, some I left out.  I did move from the north to the south in search of hope.  And so I created a fictitious town in an area I love where I can visit the familiar…Charlotte…and live idealistically in New Hope, South Carolina.

4. Is it part of a series?
This is a series, book one of the New Hope series.

5. A must have snack while you write.
Microwave popcorn with white cheddar seasoning and m&ms.  Very inspiring.  My food muse.

6. A fact that someone might not know about you.
I’ve been a blogger for nearly four years.  I’m not sure there is anything that people don’t know about me, much to my husband’s chagrin.  He’s a very private person.

7. If you had to choose a favorite book that you’ve written, which would it be?
Honestly, this one, Stormy Surrender.  It was so difficult to write.  I had so much to say and I couldn’t figure out how to say it.  I didn’t know how far to take it.  And finally a friend reminded me it was a series, so I found a logical stopping point.  And another friend told me I was crazy to doubt myself.  Then when it was over, it felt so right.  I felt that hope that I wanted others to feel while reading it.

8. Advice to writers who have yet to be published.
Write what you want to write the best that you can.  There is room for everything out there, if it is well written.  Also, know in advance that writing is a small portion of the job.  You can’t just send your book baby out into the universe to make you a living.  You have to support it, encourage others to read it, shine a spotlight on it, give the world a map to find it over and over and over again.

9. Have you written a character that most resembles you?
All the female love interests are me.  They are the me I was at one time or another, the me I strive to be.  The me I wish I had the courage to be, or the me who once was weak, but now is strong.

10. What are you currently working on?
Right now, I’m writing Finally Found, the sequel to my March release, Hiding Out.  It will come out in May.  In June, Dark Dawn will be released.  I had the next book in the New Hope series coming out, as well as the second installment in the Dreams Come True Trilogy.  The first book was First a Dream.

Sometimes the life you planned isn’t the one you get to live.  Sometimes the pain of the past overshadows the future.  And sometimes to start over you have to go back to where it all began.  That’s how it was for Joe Masters.  That’s how he ended up back in New Hope.  And that’s why he was in his thirties and had nothing to show for his life.  He needed a complete overhaul, just like his father’s old house.  Instead of a fast track, he had slowed down and was on a ten year plan.  These days that was more his speed.  And as much as he tried to fight the inevitable, he was learning to accept and surrender.

Martha had weathered her fair share of storms in Vermont, was accustomed to the cold, both the chill in the air and the cold shoulder in her marriage, but after the miscarriage she felt like she would never get warm again.  So she did the research from the laptop while sitting in front of the fireplace.  She knew what she needed when she Googled hope, she just never imagined that it would bring her to New Hope, South Carolina.  She never imagined that her husband would trick her into leaving and never follow.  She never imagined that a southern storm with all its force and fury could be so destructive.  But after the storm, the land is washed clean.  It’s perfect for a fresh start, a clean slate, and a new love.
